Civil Disobedience Poem
We alone suffer the consequences of our mistakes
Send us to prison and we live there as in a paradise
Everywhere wars are fought and people are put to their own sake
Seeds of war have only make people sacrifice
No country will ever become happy through victory and war
A nation does not rise that way it only falls further what comes to it is defeat and more war
People will gladly die as a victim of murder
But people will never comply with your arbitrary laws
So whats the need for civil disobedience
People will never obey it as it draws
We only suffer the consequences of our experiences
Since we only urge people to obey the supreme courts decision
Even though if an individual breaks a law that conscience tells him he is forgiven.

"The Story of an Hour" by: Kate Chopin
“The Story of an Hour”
“The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin revolves around Mrs. Mallards feelings and emotions about her husbands death. The story is about Mr.Mallard who just found out that her husband died in a tragic train accident. She locks herself in her room and starts thinking about the life ahead of her. Kate Chopin uses a lot of ironies throughout the story like Mrs. Mallards husband actually being alive. An important irony of the story is instead of Mrs. Mallard being sad about her husband's death her feelings show that she was actually relieved. In the story the characters think Mrs. Mallard died from the joy of seeing her husband but i think she died from the sadness of seeing her husband.
When Mrs. Mallard finds out that her husband is dead she locks herself in her room. Her sister Josephine thinks she is going to harm herself due to Mrs. Mallard’s husband tragic accident. In the story Josephine says “Louise, open the door! I beg; open the door- you will make yourself ill. What are you doing Louise?...”(pg 596). Josephine thinks Mrs. Mallard is harming or hurting herself. But we the readers know that she isn't actually hurting herself but is actually quite happy. Mrs. Mallard was in her room thinking about her life in the future where she doesn't have to provide for her husband anymore.
While Mrs.Mallard was in her room she kept whispering the words “free, free” she started thinking about how she doesn't have to obey her husband's commands and just live for herself. In the story Mrs.Mallard feels that “There would be no one to live for her during those coming years; she would live for herself” (pg 595). Mrs. Mallard feels that now since her husband is dead she can live the life she wanted too. She is free from her husband, he doesn't have to hold her back anymore. Thats why i think she is sad when she finds out her husband is actually alive.
When Mrs. Mallard goes downstairs the last person she expects to see is her husband. When she sees her husband she is in big shock. But its too late for her to do anything. When her husband comes to sees her she is already dead. “When the doctors came they said she died of heart disease -- of the joy that kills” (pg 596). What i think is that Mrs. Mallard didn't die of the joy of seeing her husband but of the disappointment or sadness of seeing him. When Mrs. Mallard was in her room she started thinking of her future without her husband in the picture. In a way she was kind of happy that he was gone. I think she died of the sadness of seeing her husband because i feel that when she saw him she was in big shock and felt like she was going back to her old life style which means following her husband orders.
For my final words, I don't believe Mrs. Mallard died of the joy of seeing her husband. All of her emotions showed that she was relieved that he was gone. Like thinking of her life without her husband. Mrs. Mallard already started planning her future as being free. When she found out her husband was gone she felt like he doesn't have to pull her back anymore. All Mrs. Mallard wanted was to be free and live for herself not for her husband. And when her husband died she felt like that was her chance to have the life she always dreamed of. I think Mrs. Mallard died of the disappointment of seeing her husband and not of joy.
What is an American?
What is an American?
To me an American is someone who celebrates the fourth of July. A true American knows that on July the fourth it is the day America got its independence. An American is a person that knows they have freedom and accepts it. A true American knows the history of their culture and should know how America came to be. Americans know what the symbols in the American flag represent. I feel that Americans are hard workers and appreciate life.
Americans are hard workers and know that they have to put a lot of effort to achieve what they want in life. Most Americans work hard to provide for their families. There are even many American who have more than one job and appreciate it a lot. In America it is hard to find a job now a days. Any American would appreciate the fact that they even have a job in the first place. I know from personal experience that their was a period in my moms life where she had no job. When she got the opportunity and found a job she appreciated it a lot. She became a hard worker since that very day. And even today I noticed that my mom is still a very hard worker. An American should know that to achieve the best in life it requires risks and hard work.
A true American should also appreciate life. They know that America has gone through so much and know they should appreciate what they have. Americans appreciate the fact that they have the opportunities that other countries don't have. Many people from other countries want to come to America to receive those opportunities for their family. I know this because when my mom came to America her mom wanted the best for her children so they can have a proper education. When my mom first came to America she loved it and appreciated everything it came with. A true American should appreciate America and know that any other person in the world wishes they can come to America to have the life they had. An American is a person that can feel that they can accomplish anything life can offer just by being themselves and never giving up in life.
To sum it all up, a true American knows the meaning of America and knows that they have the opportunities that other countries don't have. Americans should appreciate everything they have and should never complain about what they don't have. In general Americans should know the history of their nation and should know what America has to offer. Americans know that to accomplish the best in life they have to take risks and put in all the effort they have. Americans work very hard to provide for their family so they can give them the life they deserve. Americans are hard workers and appreciate everything they have.
